I like this, Doug, and I know what you mean. I write quite a bit of poetry, and I’m coming to realize that my best poetry comes from those places of distance and disorientation. Art does have a redeeming effect, a reflection of the great Artist. Thanks for this reflection.
So, my art is similar to the stick-men drawn above 🙂 , but I paint with words in my writing. I suppose that prose is my art and I have found many connections within it. Yes, the words I write are grown in the soil of a heart enriched with pain and sorrow… but also joy and delight. “Out of the overflow of the heart…” the mouth speaks, the pen writes, the brush paints, the life is illuminated… out of the overflow of the heart.

Thank you for helping me think outside the box. Your art makes me ponder, and the older I get I’m finding that pondering creates more synaptic connections in my brain to help me learn. I wish I had pondered more in my teens and 20’s … but I thought I knew everything back then.

that sounds weird to have repeated “reflection” 2x like that and I can’t just let it go, I have to go back and correct myself (sigh). Whatevs. 🙂
